Chapter 6 – Day 5 of Living in the Demonic Land

I smoked the meat and put it in jars. The house was used by P.J., but I found a very nice property. It is secondhand, but it has a lot of equipment.

I now have food, clothing, and shelter.

It was the first time I felt safe since I entered the demonic land. I got a lot of sleep.

“Maybe I need some more firewood.”

After stretching and relaxing my body, I went into the jungle with an axe in my hand. I struck the axe against a thick tree nearby.

With two swings, the tree fell. I was surprised even with myself.

When in the world had I acquired such arm strength? Not only my arm strength but also my legs and back seemed to have become stronger. I jumped a little and realized that I had jumped about three meters.

“What the hell?”

I shouted out loud, puzzled.

My physical ability had increased so much that I could not use my strength properly.

The Golden Bat I fought yesterday flew over a tree, so I jumped up and swung my axe at it.

The Golden Bat broke in half and fell down.

I took the golden magic stone from its chest and took only enough meat to eat for breakfast. I coated the rest of the meat with a generous amount of swimming flower sleeping potion and egg mushroom spores and left it on the animal trail.

I ate the crispy bat meat and also dug pit traps around the house. Maybe it is because I have so much energy, but no matter how many traps I make, I never get tired.

The sun was still high in the sky when I finished setting the traps.

I put on the armor that P.J. had thrown away and headed deeper into the demonic land. Feeling good about the sturdy armor, my steps were light.

As I walked along in good spirits, I suddenly felt a jolt in my back. I felt like I was flying in the air, and the landscape was spinning in rapid succession. The sky and the ground alternated above my head at super speed. I reached out but could not grab anything. I arched my back and braced for impact.

Then, I crashed backward onto the edge of the swamp. I bounced a few times like a water drain, and the flock of waterfowl monsters and swimming birds that were in the swamp took off at once.

I plunged head first into the muck of the swamp and finally came to a stop. I pulled my head out and inhaled as much fresh air as I could. I pushed the mud off my face and opened my eyes.

I knew immediately what had hit my back.

A big turtle.

A monster that I had never seen before.

But when I saw a large tree with its roots firmly planted in the ground being easily broken and a rock more than twice the size of an adult male being crushed to pieces, I knew that it possessed extraordinary power.

It was probably the giant magical beast mentioned in P.J.’s notebook.

The size of the giant turtle was about the same size as the wild boar I had defeated two days earlier, or even slightly larger. If it was a giant magical beast, it should come every three months.

Maybe the cycle was different from when P.J. lived here.

I checked my body which had been blown away. Although my armor was shattered, there were no broken bones or bruises.

“No injuries…?”

Even though I fell on my back, I felt no pain when I touched my back. What happened to my body?

Although I feel uncomfortable, there is no obstruction to the movement of any part of my body. When I picked up the armor, it crumbled like silky sand.

Was it some kind of magically imbued armor that absorbed all the impact?

Meanwhile, in the swamp, the giant turtle came towards me and ripped a large tree from its roots.

There was no way I could defeat that thing.

This is a demonic land. The courage to face it would result in immediate death.

I turned to run and saw a giant turtle.

There were two big turtles… No, when I looked around, I saw many giant turtles in the swamp.

“I’m surrounded!”

A series of huge rock-like faces rise from the deep waters of the swamp and stare back at me.

A turtle on the shore stretches out its neck and slaps the surface of the water like a whip, causing a huge splash and sending the monsters in the water flying through the air.

The turtles catch the monsters in their mouths. As the desperate screams of the monsters echo through the water, the turtles swallow them down with a throbbing sound.

As I watched in a daze, a large shadow overlapped my shadow. Reflected on the surface of the water, I saw the head of a giant turtle about to be swung down.

I tried to escape, but my feet were stuck in the swamp.

I quickly crouched down defensively with my arms to protect my head.

There was a tremendous impact, and I was knee-deep in the swamp… but it was not a shock I could not bear.

“…Hmm?”

I thought the impact would be enough to kill me. Or at least I thought I would be seriously injured.

“But I survived…”

A group of giant turtles also looked at me as if they had a question mark on their heads.

Again, the turtle that had attacked me stretched its neck and swung down.

This time, I watched carefully and protected myself with my arms.

When the blow hit me, I pushed back as well. It didn’t even bury me in the swamp.

Whether the giant turtle’s attack power was not as strong or whether I had become too strong, I am not sure, but its attack did not seem to work on me.

“Oraaaa! Come at me! Co.. Buh!”

I shouted in high spirits, and from my blind spot, the giant turtle lunged at me, easily knocking me off my feet.

I was flung through the air, but this time, I was able to calmly assess my landing spot, and using the flexibility of my knees, I landed on the ground without sustaining any injuries. The turtles in the swamp looked at me in amazement and let out a snort.

I plunged into the crowd of giant turtles as if trying to catch up with them.

The turtles, with only their faces exposed, fled to deeper water, while those in the shallows retreated into their shells.

I tried to hit them on their shells, but I couldn’t get a single crack, and the attacks didn’t seem to work at all.

However, every time I hit the turtle, it shook a lot.

Could it possibly be lifted?

I grabbed the turtle by its shell and forced myself to carry it like a barrel of alcohol.

It often happens that if you try, you can do it.

When I threw the turtle into the swamp, it made a big splash, like at a boat launching ceremony, and the waves rushed to the other side of the swamp.

I stared at my hands, afraid of how fast I had grown, wondering how I had become so strong in just a few days.

Maybe I was the kind of person who could do it if I tried.

I returned to my house with such conceit in my heart.

As I washed and dried my wet clothes, I looked at P.J.’s notebook and saw that the turtle was a species called Haze’s Turtle.

It also said that it was one of the weakest species in demonic land and that it could be used as a pet if you were careful to avoid its lunges.

I want to beat myself up for being so conceited.

  1. “I want to beat myself up for being so conceited.”

And earlier, buying something for all his savings, relying only on word of mouth of someone who sells it, was any better than this?
