Chapter 23 – Day 22 of Living in the Demonic Land

We ate Kodomo Dragon’s meat for breakfast and went to the military training facility. Cher was completely covered, even wearing a mask.

As we passed through the fields of the training facility, the captain was working on the fields.

“Hello!”

“Ah, you’re from demonic land! Two weeks have passed already? That was fast.”

The captain stopped working and led us to a hut.

“Hey, is this your friend?”

The captain asked, looking at Cher.

“Yes, she’s a little strange, but she’s good at what she does. We can double our trade with her.”

“I see. I hope we have the materials to trade with. Come in.”

We were led into the hut and placed our goods on a large work table.

Cher seemed nervous and restless. She sat silently in a chair against the wall, checking the escape route in case of an emergency.

“This time I also made ham from the monster’s aged flesh. What do you think?”

“Ham? Ham keeps for a long time, that’s great.”

The captain picked it up and looked at it carefully.

“I also made these things from various magic stones.”

I showed the captain the handmade staff.

“A staff? Hmm, there aren’t many mages here at the training facility, so I don’t know the details, but I think it’s not a bad product. Is there anything else?”

“I brought things like monster claws and fangs that could be used as weapons if they were processed.”

The captain examined the monsters’ claws and fangs, asked what kind of monster they were and where they came from, and separated those that could be processed from those that couldn’t.

It seems that the existence of Maaeshitsukawazu was not known, and the captain didn’t know what to do with the claws and fangs. He said he would ask the blacksmith in the city on the regular mail service.

It seems that Green Tiger fangs are quite rare and valuable. Although it was not replacement material, when I showed him a King Anaconda saber, he muttered, “Beautiful,” and looked at it fondly.

“So, do you want flour, vegetables, or anything else from us?”

The captain asked after looking at everything.

“Well, um, I’d like thread, sewing supplies, and tools for working with wood. Do you have any of those?”

“I can get you those.”

“I’d also like some metal swords. If you can get them, I’d also like a spell book for space-time magic.”

“Hmm, space-time magic, huh? That’s going to be quite expensive. I wonder if it even exists…”

“Is it possible to order it from the royal capital?”

“We can do that, but it’ll cost a lot of money up front.”

“I see.”

“Besides, there are a lot of fake copies of expensive spell books.”

“Hmm, I see.”

“I think it would be more satisfying if you went to the royal capital and looked for it yourself.”

That’s a very mature opinion. I think the captain is absolutely right.

It would take about ten days to go to the royal capital by carriage.

It might not take me that long now, but it would mean leaving the demonic land for a few days. And I definitely can’t take Cher with me. If that’s the case, it seems impossible under the current circumstances.

“I understand. I’ll look for the spell book myself.”

“Then I’ll prepare some more flour and vegetables. In fact, I ordered some extra things for you from the city.”

“Thank you.”

“There’s also some alcohol. Do you want some?”

“No, I don’t drink.”

“Is the metal sword okay, like our soldiers use?”

“Oh, yes. It’s fine.”

The captain brought a bundle of about ten swords. Thread and sewing tools also came out immediately, but the captain asked what kind of tools would be good.

“I want to build a ship.”

“Oh, I see. Then something big would be better. Can I have a week or so to prepare? I’ll have it made.”

“That would be a great help.”

This is a land without a sea on the border, so it’s only natural that the tools for building a ship would not be readily available.

“Oh, that reminds me, I also need some women’s clothing.”

“Huh?”

“Oh, not for me, but for my friend.”

“Oh, that’s right. Women’s clothes, huh? I think I can get them for you right now.”

“Now?”

“Oh, no, no, a party of adventurers passed through here about five days ago. One of them suddenly returned yesterday. I asked the others what happened, but I couldn’t get a clue. However, the soldiers said that the returned priestess was cute, so they’re going to buy her a gift. If there are any clothes among them, I can give them to you right now…”

The captain was surprisingly harsh.

“No, not clothes as presents, but things to live in the demon land, so I’d like some pants and clothes.”

“Oh, is that so? Then let’s say in a week. We also have female members in our group, but their clothes are already in tatters.”

So we finished the trade and agreed to meet again in a week.

The return trip was easier because I didn’t have to carry the packages so carefully. Cher seemed happy to have the flour. She was eager to make bread and kept saying, “Gufugufu.” It was a little weird.

We ran all the way back so we could get back to the demonic land cave before noon.

I tried the magic sword with the iron sword, and it worked. The conductivity of magic power isn’t so good, so it’s good that I can change the power as I like.

If I draw a magic circle, I should be able to give it a specific magic like P.J.’s sword. There are a lot of tools and skills I have to learn. It’s a big difference from the complacent life in the city.

“Makyo! Food!”

I hear Cher’s voice. It looks like the bread is ready.
