Chapter 33 – Day 32 of Living in the Demonic Land
I feed the forest rats and water the fields.
The vegetables in the fields are growing well.
Today, I didn’t go to the swamp; I stayed at home and read a history book.
It was very easy because Cher and Jennifer made me breakfast.
While I was reading, I rolled the big monster bones I collected from the swamp in my hands. They didn’t break even when I tried to put magic into them, and they gradually became familiar to my hands as I touched them.

The vegetables were some kind of… I don’t know, a wild vegetable. Cher found some vegetables in the forest that she said she ate in the demon land, so she made them. They’re not poisonous, but they’re bitter. If you chew them well, they taste good. However, my mouth turned bright green.
“Is this a vegetable?”
“Isn’t it too bitter?”
“This forest is a little dense.”
Well, it’s okay if you get some fiber.
After eating, we left the demonic land and went to the training facility.
It didn’t take long. If we hadn’t stopped to collect fruits and wild plants, we would have arrived in about an hour. Based on this morning’s breakfast, we decided to actively collect plants that we thought could be eaten. Later, I would try to feed them to the forest rats I kept and test them.

On the way home from the demonic land, we were caught in a heavy rainstorm.
When I hurried home, I found Jennifer making sandbags by filling a bag with dirt.

Still soaking wet, I ran outside and headed for the field by the swamp.
Jennifer was right; the water level in the swamp had risen a bit.

“This means that I can’t expand the fields.”

The rain was still falling, so that day, I fed the Forest Rat the fruits and wild plants I had collected and watched their reactions. It seemed that they could eat any fruit or wild plant, but they had their likes and dislikes.
Jennifer continued to taste the fruits in front of the pot, trying to find a way to get rid of the astringent taste.
