Chapter 2 – Cool Maid Yukine Hyoudou

Beep beep beep. Beep beep beep.

It’s the first vacation since she met Noah and Sumimaru.
Kaori startled slightly at the electronic sound that penetrated her dream.
“Is it morning already…?”
She reached out from under the covers and stopped the alarm.
She rubbed her eyes and slowly opened them…
“Ufufufu~. Good morning, Kaori♡.”
The squid, with its eyes drooping, was right in front of her.
“Kyaaaaaa!?”
“Bubeehh!”
Sumimaru’s crushed voice came out from under the pillow that had been pushed on top of her.
“Ah, Sumimaru-san! I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
“Ufufufu, it’s not a big deal at all-maru, it’s more like a reward-maru☆!”
Kaori quickly moved the pillow out of the way, and Sumimaru winked at her, looking somehow proud.
Kaori tilted her head.
“But… I was sure I locked the door yesterday, just like Noah-san said, so how did you get in?”
After Kaori’s spectacular magical girl debut yesterday,
Noah continued to live in the apartment she had rented before she met Kaori, and Sumimaru was supposed to live with Kaori and act as her bodyguard.
By the way, Noah’s apartment is apparently a very old, cramped, wooden studio apartment with a bathroom full of mold and drafty gaps in the walls. It is a 30-minute walk from the train station.

Sumimaru come floating into the room and clapped his hands.

Sumimaru held out a staff for transformation.
“The staff I lent you before was for Noah, so it couldn’t bring out Kaori’s prism power to its fullest-maru! But this one is just for you, so you’ll be able to use it to unleash even more power than before-maru!”

“What? Is that sound and light a sign that Debipachi-san is appearing?”
“That’s right-maru! It’s coming from the direction of downtown-maru! It doesn’t seem to be causing any trouble yet, but you never know when Debipachi might start acting up, so we’d better hurry over there-maru!”

“I’ll call Noah too-maru!”
Sumimaru said, summoning a cute compact out of the air.

When he shouted persistently, Noah appeared in the mirror with her hair all messed up.
“Mmm, fuwaaa… I was just having a nice dream; please don’t wake me up~…”
“Oh, Noah-san!”
“My goodness, are you still sleeping-maru? It’s almost time to gather-maru!”
“But this room is so hectic, I can’t sleep at all… There’s a pounding coming from the next room, which should be empty, and there’s a woman with long hair looking in from the window upstairs, and when I try to sleep, a black shadow stands by my pillow and mutters something… Is this common in this world?”
