Chapter 21 – Another Exit

Although Wataru and the others had rested for a while, it was still early in the day.

Since they were already out, they decided to revisit the shrine and find out where the other teleportation points led.

This time, they chose to stay together as a group of four to avoid getting separated again.

When they gathered in a small space, the pressure from their bodies was intense.

Wataru wasn’t being picky, but all the slaves were beautiful women with voluptuous figures.

Wataru’s eyes were drawn to the gathering of deep valleys.

According to the girls, there were six large bulges that made it impossible to see their feet.

What a spectacular sight!

One would have been wonderful enough, but there were three of them, like the peaks of mountains.

They were more like mountain ranges than just mountains.

This captivating sight healed Wataru’s mental fatigue from the ancient city’s shrine.

Wataru wouldn’t normally stare at a stranger’s chest, but these three were different.

Not even a lover or partner would do such a thing.

Slaves are great, after all.

As Wataru was lost in thought, Mariel tilted her head in confusion.

“Um, Master… Aren’t you going anywhere?”

“Geez, stop staring at my breasts! You’re hopeless. Here, come on. You can squeeze them if you want.”

“Squeeze them…”

“Mmm… Ah…”

“That’s dirty. You shouldn’t touch Onee-sama’s breasts. You did the same thing last night. Ugh…”

“Oops, sorry. We’re in the teleportation zone.”

Wataru reluctantly let go and looked away.

The soft, warm sensation lingered on his hands.

Last time, the teleportation started the moment he said it out loud.

Of the six destinations he could teleport to, the two in the south seemed safest.

He guessed that one of them was connected to Southern Ship Town.

To be on the safe side, he should try the closer one.

The closer he was to the royal capital, the easier it would be to take countermeasures if necessary.

“Then let’s go to the closer one in the south.”

He said aloud, keeping it in mind.

It was unclear which one had actually triggered, but the gate opened as intended.

“Let’s go. We can’t get separated this time.”

“Yes, I’ll make sure to stay close this time.”

“Me too!”

Aire and Cloche gripped Wataru’s sleeves tightly.

They must have been very worried about him.

Feeling truly sorry, Wataru took Mariel’s hand and passed through the gate.

After passing through the gate, Wataru looked around.

The interior of the shrine looked unfamiliar.

The shrine in Southern Ship Town had been cleaned by Wataru and the others, so it was quite clean.

Compared to that one, this one was dirty, and he could tell the difference.

“Where are we?”

“It’s hard to tell what the atmosphere outside is like when you’re inside a shrine.”

“But this doesn’t feel like Southern Ship Town.”

“Master, look at the gate.”

“What’s wrong? It’s still open. The only problem is the shrine in the north.”

Another difference was that the gate was open and stable.

It remained open, seemingly capable of transporting goods, much like the gateway connecting Earth and the other world.

They hadn’t investigated other teleportation destinations yet, so it wasn’t certain, but the improvement in safety for people and goods was good news.

“I hope it’s not someplace strange this time. Aire, if you’re going out, be careful and put safety first.”

“Yes. Cloche, please support me.”

“Leave it to me. I will protect you perfectly, Onee-sama.”

The gate closed naturally as Wataru and the others left.

Aire peered outside from the shrine’s exit and cautiously stepped forward.

She slowly moved away from the shrine and observed her surroundings. Suddenly, she relaxed.

“Master, we’ve found it.”

“Oh, where is it?”

“It’s probably Azure Stream Town. I can smell hot springs.” [T/N: Changed “Blue Jade Town” to “Azure Stream Town.”]

“Huh, that’s nice. Then we can go to the hot springs as much as we want.”

“We didn’t need to buy so much hot spring powder after all.”

“Funyaa!? All my hard work was for nothing!”

Mariel smiled wryly.

The concentrated hot spring water close to the source was heavy and difficult to carry, but valuable, so she bought more than she needed.

Aire had tried her best to carry it, but she hadn’t expected there to be a teleportation point.

“Maybe God likes hot springs and set up the gate.”

“Haha, that’s ridiculous.”

“No, it might actually be true. It’s a well-known fact that the gods love hot springs. Maybe they wanted their followers and beloved children to enjoy them, too.”

“That’s not the god I’ve imagined.”

Depending on the religion or sect, gods can have very human traits, and that’s not uncommon.

Wataru had imagined a god more like an abstract manager of the world, a transcendent being. He didn’t really imagine the gods as human.

However, after hearing Mariel’s story, he realized he needed to change his perception.

Perhaps they are still here, mingling with people in the hot springs of this town.

Chapter 22 – Business Negotiations in the Royal Capital

One of the southern gates of the shrine in the royal capital led to the hot spring town of Azure Stream.

As expected, the other gate led to Southern Ship Town.

This was fortunate.

Otherwise, if Wataru had to travel three days each way every time he needed to go to the capital, it would take a considerable amount of time.

He was beginning to think it would be better to leave the business to the locals.

That would be fine if they were just transporting goods back and forth, but it would mean losing a valuable opportunity to learn about this different world and its products.

It was good news that the gates between Southern Ship Town and the royal capital had been confirmed.

When Wataru and the others returned to their lodgings in the royal capital, they enjoyed dinner and discussed what they had learned that day.

They had learned a great deal in just one day, but there were also many things they still didn’t understand.

First, what they did learn:

The shrines in the royal capital can teleport to multiple locations, and the gates are connected by verbal triggers.

To the north, there is a connection to ancient ruins quite far away. Beyond that area, however, it is a dangerous and unstable region. Cleanup is required, as well as measures to prevent future magic disasters.

If all goes well, they may be able to obtain valuable ancient artifacts. However, even with Aire and Cloche, it would be a considerable risk at this point.

The other gates to the ancient city are stable, and transporting supplies seems possible without any problems.

There are still some things they don’t know.

Additionally, the teleportation destinations in the east and west seem quite far apart, so they haven’t tried them yet.

According to their initial predictions, there should be a gate connecting to Star-Gazing Hill in Baron Moye’s territory, but they haven’t been able to confirm this yet.

There may be another shrine that serves as a relay point.

“But since the royal capital and Southern Ship Town are connected, why can’t we go to Baron Moye’s territory?”

“Maybe there are conditions that need to be met before we can use it!”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know!”

Cloche stands tall and proud, showing no sign of remorse.

She tends to speak based on intuition and doesn’t seem to be very good at thinking things through.

“As Cloche said, there must be some kind of condition. Maybe the shrine in the royal capital is special.”

“We can’t say anything for sure at this point.”

“Yes, so I think it would be a good idea to meet with Professor Maurice again.”

“I see. Come to think of it, Professor Maurice said that even those who can use the teleportation circle can’t move through all the gates and that most are only allowed to use some of them.”

If that’s the case, then Wataru and the others, who can move between multiple locations, might be exceptions.

Perhaps they were granted the ability to use the gates after fulfilling some condition.

Why are they allowed to do so?

Are they receiving special treatment, or will they suddenly lose the ability one day?

There are no clues.

It would be best to consult Professor Maurice about these matters.

The problem is that it’s unclear how honest the professor will be.

○○○

The next morning, Wataru enjoyed passionate lovemaking with Mariel and Aire. Meanwhile, Cloche suffered from sleep deprivation and teeth grinding.

Wataru was at a snack bar near the plaza in the royal capital.

He had been in the royal capital for the past few days, visiting several shops, but this one had the best food.

The simple baked goods and bread were made with dried fruits and honey, and the owner put a lot of effort into making them as delicious as possible.

If they could obtain new ingredients, they could make even better products.

The owner of the shop, called “Vocal,” was a man in his forties who seemed to be running the business with his family.

He had run his own shop in the royal capital for a little over ten years.

The shop’s interior was not very large, but it was decorated with wood and had a calm atmosphere that allowed customers to relax.

It appears that his son and daughter will take over the business, so the shop’s future looks secure.

“I really want you to try this powder.”

“Hmm, will it make the texture softer?”

“Yes, I have some samples. Would you like to try some?”

“Sure, that’s great. I’ll try it, and I’ll ask my wife and son what they think, too.”

“Of course. Could you pass them to me, Aire?”

“Sure.”

Wataru took the cookies he had brought from Japan and arranged them on a borrowed plate.

These cookies, made by a major manufacturer, were made with baking powder and were products that pursued the ultimate in mass appeal.

They were optimized for large-scale production, so if this small shop tried to reproduce them, it would be incredibly expensive.

“They look like ordinary baked goods, but… wow, what is this!?”

“Oh, they’re delicious! They’re crispy and soft. They melt in my mouth, and the sweetness spreads throughout. What an elegant taste!”

“I wonder how much sugar they used. Maybe butter, too. The dark grains in it are really good. It doesn’t have much texture, though. I could eat these one after another.”

The owner of The Vocal, his wife, and his son opened their eyes wide and devoured the cookies on the plate.

Wataru had prepared a generous amount, but the mountain of cookies quickly shrank.

Their immediate analysis of the cookies, rather than simply eating them, made it clear why they were such skilled bakers.

Cloche let out a hungry growl and looked longingly at the cookies, but Wataru stopped her with a glance.

Unlike Mariel and Aire, she had not yet experienced the “food violence” of modern Japan.

She would be shocked when she came to Japan.

“They also go well with tea, so I think you can create a menu that combines them in various ways.”

“This is truly revolutionary! Hey, wait! Don’t eat so fast.”

“You’re the one who’s been gobbling them up since earlier.”

“I can’t help it. I have to recreate the same flavor in my baking!”

The owner shouted, his mustache covered in cookie crumbs.
