Chapter 297 – Report
“Hmmm… Is it getting warmer?”
Bathed in the faintly warm sunlight, I looked toward the large river flowing through southern Freyville.
The Kingdom of Ortran, the fourth country, stretched out as an endless expanse of grasslands.
Looking westward, I could see a forest extending slightly deeper into the distance. Judging by its placement on the map, it must be a country bordering the Great Palmera Forest.
“Excuse me!”
Flying over the border, I headed southeast for now.
At Felin’s request, I plan to head straight for the first dungeon, the “Treasure-Saving Labyrinth.”
Preliminary intel suggests it lies toward the eastern part of Ortran. Notable landmarks include a large lake and the city of Sanur, which surrounds the dungeon and is said to be larger than the kingdom’s capital.
Technically, the safest bet would be to follow the road while keeping an eye below, but at this point, getting lost wouldn’t matter—I could always correct my course.
When moving without mapping, visual information takes absolute priority.
My flight altitude steadily increased, and my flying became more daring.
“Smoothly… Imagine flapping wings… Smoothly…”
This was a fundamental improvement in flight capability, unlike bursts that consumed magic power.
The black magic power enveloping my body swirled around my back and gradually spread out, forming a hazy shape.
Little by little, slowly but surely, I would make it my own.
Day One in Ortran.
Under a cloudless blue sky, my journey through the fourth country began.

The Kingdom of Elgrand is located in the northwest of the continent.
In the royal castle, a man walks, making a metallic sound.
“Ah! You’ve returned!”
“A-are you injured?”
“You look tired again. I’ll come heal you later.”
He responded with smiles and gestures to the succession of women’s voices. Finally, he reached his room, breathed deeply, and found peace.
He was greeted by a woman wearing a tailcoat.
“Sera, I need you to urgently repair my equipment. I don’t know when I’ll be heading out again.”
“Understood. From the looks of things, the battle situation doesn’t seem favorable, does it?”
“We wiped out the invaders on Alois’s side, but the key Vibroia Fortress has fallen. At this point, it’s probably just a matter of time.”
“Should reinforcements from the Flying Dragon Corps still proceed as planned?”
“Yes, please do. If this country falls, the Empire’s entire military might turn northward. We must hold out until then.”
As Sera offered him tea and continued her work, he slowly sipped it, savoring the moment as he gazed out at the rain-soaked town below.
This unwanted routine began when the man appeared in the Empire.
Gradually, the sweet life faded into the shadows. Standing on the battlefield day and night had become the norm, especially these past two years.
Expectations and heavy responsibilities clung to him like a curse.
Even so—
(A “hero” would never falter.)
As he glared at the dark night sky, slender fingers touched his waist.
“Sera…”
“Your Highness, you won’t recover your strength if you remain so tense. Instead—”
The man embraced her shoulders, thinking that was the reason. But she brushed his hand away decisively and said, “This isn’t the time for that,” and continued.
“I also have important news to report.”
“Huh?”
“Today, a message using a Rolo Bird arrived from one of our spies.”
“A Rolo Bird…”
There are several methods of bird-based communication. To increase the likelihood of reaching the destination, one would use a durable magical bird.
For speed, one might use birds of prey. If one’s Monster Taming skill level was high enough, one could utilize higher-ranked monsters.
However, the Rolo Bird was unique.
Although its endurance and speed were inferior, it carried no physical evidence, such as letters or wooden tablets. Instead, when triggered by a predetermined “key” phrase, it would simply “speak” the message verbatim, making it exceptionally secure.
In other words, the moment a Rolo Bird arrived, it was clear that the message was highly important.
Seeing the birdcage that Sera had brought out, the man nodded to himself, conceding that this was certainly no time for such things.
“Unlock: ‘Belva Spey'”
“Confirmed presence of a ‘special entity’ in the A-rank hunting ground ‘Quoitz’ within the Freyville Kingdom in the Central Continent. Possesses high potential for aerial flight and spatial magic. Whether it is from another world is unknown. Name: Loki.”
The two fell silent for a moment at the report delivered by the Rolo Bird.
“Freyville… The nation of the dwarves, the smiths?”
“It seems so. It says, ‘unknown if from another world,’ but if the person truly possesses Spatial Magic, we can consider it confirmed.”
“The acquisition conditions are still unknown. The fact that the person is a child makes that possibility even higher. If we can successfully recruit the child, it could drastically change the situation.”
“Indeed. Setting aside the gold-obsessed fool*, as long as Mr. Hans maintains his neutral stance, Spatial Magic alone will undoubtedly impact the war situation significantly. Though the reverse is also true.”
[T/N: Probably the reincarnated individual Marie.]
“Loki, huh? We need to make contact immediately. We’re already playing catch-up. If the Empire suppresses any more reincarnated individuals, then even if we can hold this capital, defending the rest will become extremely difficult.”
“That would essentially mean losing the country.”
A sudden report of an Otherworlder.
It could be seen as either good or bad news. Because of this, the “Hero” reaches out, striving to pull the future closer and escape this unwanted situation.
Would it prove to be the “cure” that turns the tide, or the “deadly poison” that devours from within?
At this point, there was no way to know.

In this case, I think the one that annoys Loki more gets f up. 😂
