Chapter 13 – Stella’s Job

Should he really ask for the full details?

Wataru considered it for a moment, but then changed his mind.

There seemed to be a deep, underlying reason.

It would be better to wait a while before asking her suddenly.

But what could make someone feel so strongly about not wanting to return to their birthplace?

“Master, I’ve finished reviewing the contract. I found no issues, even in the finer clauses. I just need your signature.”

“Ah, yeah. Got it. You did well. Thank you, as always.”

“Not at all, Master. Nothing makes me happier than serving you. You can always command me.”

Mariel, who had been reviewing the contract, called out.

Knowing she meant it sincerely made him happy.

Wataru shifted his focus and signed the document.

Since realizing that he would need to sign things going forward, he had managed to learn to write his own name in this world’s script.

He moved the brush slowly and carefully as he wrote.

The writing felt awkward and unfamiliar, which made it difficult.

“I have confirmed the signature. The rights to this slave, Stella, have been formally transferred to Wataru-sama.”

“I shall serve you to the best of my ability. Please cherish me for a long time to come.”

“Yeah, I don’t plan on doing anything unreasonable, so let’s get along.”

Starting with Mariel and Aire, Stella was Wataru’s fourth slave.

Wataru was starting to handle things calmly.

“The negotiations are done. Let’s change locations and walk while we talk. There’s a lot I want to tell you first, like why General Etgar handed you over to me and how I want you to work from now on.”

“Understood.”

Stella agreed slowly, nodding.

Her droopy-eyed expression always seemed to carry a faint smile, giving her an alluring air.

Even though she probably didn’t mean it that way, it was easy to misunderstand, making it difficult to maintain distance.

“Well then, thank you for your hospitality.”

“The general seemed to enjoy the drinking vessels. If you find anything else interesting, please let me know.”

“I certainly will.”

They left the mansion and walked through the noble district.

As they passed carriages and saw merchants coming and going, Wataru watched Stella.

For now, Stella was walking beside Wataru.

Even from the side, her striking beauty was evident, though her long ears were also distinctive.

Her height placed her just behind Aire and Wataru; perhaps she was only slightly shorter.

She had a high, straight nose and slightly full lips.

A very large bust emerged from her slender neck, with a single mole at the valley’s edge that drew the eye.

Her waist curved sharply into a pronounced hollow.

She had a broad, well-developed pelvis, and her thighs were plump and fleshy, visible even through her pants.

Her legs were long with an abrupt transition from well-developed calves to slender, tapered ankles.

Noticing Wataru’s gaze, Aire began whispering.

“Oh, Master is holding back.”

“See? Our master never makes a move right away. But once he does, he gets quite aggressive.”

“That’s certainly true. I suffered terribly, forced to smell the scent of lovemaking from the next room.”

“You all, keep your unnecessary comments to yourselves.”

He shot a warning glance at the joking slaves, but neither Aire nor Cloche showed any carelessness in the Noble District.

Even while bantering, their eyes were fixed on intersections, entrances, and exits, ready to respond to an attack at any moment.

This allowed Wataru to gaze at Stella as they walked.

Stella tilted her head in confusion, perhaps realizing her master’s womanizing ways.

“Ara, ara. Might I be getting involved, too?”

“If you don’t mind.”

“……Huh?”

Stella’s narrow eyes widened in astonishment at the unexpected remark.

Her long, elf-like ears stood perfectly erect.

She stared intently at Wataru’s face as if she couldn’t believe it. She squinted and glared as if she were determined not to miss the slightest sign.

But Wataru himself was surprised by this reaction.

He had said it himself, so what was so surprising about it?

He didn’t know.

An indescribably awkward atmosphere hung in the air.

“My master is such a beast, it’s unbearable…”

“Humans are different from beastkin. They’re in heat year-round, you know.”

“Hey, you two. You’ll get your punishment later. Cloche can wait a while.”

“N-no way!”

“I-I-I-I’m sorry!”

Thanks to their unnecessary interjections, the situation was temporarily defused.

What on earth was that about?

After walking in silence for a bit, he regained his composure and spoke again.

“Stella, you have alchemist skills. Is that correct?”

“Yes, I worked as an alchemist under Duke Thomas. I can prepare common potions, as well as the secret elven elixirs passed down through my clan.”

“Wow, that’s impressive…”

She must be quite confident.

When she mentioned the elves’ secret potions, Stella stood up straight.

Wataru found himself staring at her breasts, which seemed larger than his own face. Fortunately, the conversation was going smoothly.

“I’m a merchant, working in this country and places far, far away. I trade in extremely distant lands. What I need from Stella is potion production.”

“Potion? You mean the classic alchemy potion? Is that what you want me to do?”

“Yes, because where I live, the environment is completely different. I want to cultivate medicinal herbs and produce potions there, so we won’t have to rely on imports. I’ll need Stella to help with the trial and error.”

At first, she seemed suspicious, but when he told her that they couldn’t even properly cultivate medicinal herbs yet, she finally seemed convinced.

She must have had high confidence in her own skills.

“But if you didn’t have potions, how did you manage when you suffered serious injuries?”

“You’d have to use prosthetic arms or legs.”

“But…”

Not that no one in this other world lived with prosthetic arms or legs.

Considering the dangerous monsters that existed, however, the number was surprisingly low.

That was because emergency treatment potions were manufactured and widely available.

“Understood. I will take full responsibility for mastering potion production and demonstrate it to you. You may rest assured, as if sheltering from the rain under the World Tree.”

“Oh, you’ll do it? Thank you, Stella.”

“No… When you look at me like that, it’s embarrassing. Please leave it to me.”

Her beautiful, heterochromatic eyes fluttered shyly.

With her cheeks flushing scarlet all the way to her ears, Stella was breathtakingly beautiful.
