Chapter 26 – Reward

A grand festival was held throughout the Mermaid Kingdom to celebrate the restoration of the barrier of the ocean currents. Mermaids swimming freely in the illuminated land, crowds of food stalls floating in the ocean, and mysterious cuisine unique to the Mermaid Kingdom in the ocean, it was a day of fantasy at its finest.

The day after experiencing this fantasy festival, I found myself sitting across from Her Majesty the Queen. We seem to be talking about rewards. There was a pile of treasures and food in the corner of the room.

“Wataru-sama, once again… I would like to thank you and your colleagues for bringing safety and light back to the Mermaid Kingdom. Thank you very much.”

“Most of this was the intention of the Sea God-sama, but I am glad that I could be of help.”

I suppose I should be afraid of being thanked by Her Majesty the Queen, but I was tired of being thanked so many times. Alessia-san and the others sitting on either side of me also smile a bit bitterly.

Well, I guess it can’t be helped. Even after we returned from yesterday’s festival, we were thanked by all the mermaids in the castle, led by Her Majesty the Queen.

After the thank-you speeches were over, they all drank a toast as usual, and I even suspected that they were thanking me for the sake of making a toast.

“Is that so? Well, thank you.”

Since I’m being treated like a toy, not an errand boy, I don’t think that’s a guarantee. But I won’t tell her.

Well, as long as I get firm permission from Sea God-sama, there is no problem. It will be fine.

It’s a little inconvenient that I have to go back to the Chris, get permission, and then come back to the Mermaid Kingdom, but it’s an inconvenience that’s nothing to worry about for this sacred treasure.

“Well, after our discussion, I’ll go to the sea to get permission.
