Chapter 14 – Day 13 of Living in the Demonic Land
When I woke up, the female demon was hugging me.
What happened to the fire watch? I thought, but she must be tired. She slept and snored.
I removed her arms that were wrapped around me and washed my face with seawater.
“Salty.”
The seawater sank into a small cut on my cheek, making it tingle.
It seemed that the female demon had made salt last night, and the small pot was filled with salt.
Even though we couldn’t communicate properly, the fact that there were two of us made the work much more efficient. However, if it was discovered that I was harboring a demon tribe, I would be arrested. If anyone finds out, we should hide deep in the demonic land.
Let’s catch some giza crabs for breakfast today.
As I was cutting the claws off the giza crab, the female demon woke up.
“Makyo!”
She called out my name in greeting. By the way, the female demon’s name is Cher.
After breakfast, I decided to take the salt pot and go home. Even if we went south along the sea to a fishing village, there was no way they would accept a demon tribe. We would end up getting killed.
“Hmm…”
I looked at Cher with a troubled face, and she looked back at me with dull eyes. I didn’t feel any threat from her.
Maybe I should build a ship and send her away. It’s really inconvenient, but I have no choice. If I help her and she dies, it would be a waste of time.
To make a raft, I need an axe to cut down the trees.
“I should have brought the axe. I left it at home.”
Should I take her home?
Cher, the female demon, followed behind me.
Since we entered the forest, Cher has been interested in everything as if it were a rarity.
She was bitten by a cam fruit and was bleeding, but she healed it with magic.
“Cher, you are surprisingly useful, aren’t you?”
“Hmm?”
Cher, with her mouth open like a stupid child, has no feminine qualities. It seems that different cultures have different sex appeal.
Besides, her walking speed is slow. She would make a face as if she was tired to death if I walked a little too fast. When she was walking along the river, she was attacked by slime, and her magic power was sucked out. Maybe she hadn’t had much to do with monsters.
When I instantly killed the slime with my saber, she was wide-eyed and surprised. While Cher, who had suffered a slight loss of magic power, rested, I decided to hunt some monsters in the area.
While I was hunting maeshitsukawazu, I heard Cher’s screams coming from the river.
When I went there, I found that she had been attacked by the slime again. I wished I could get back my feelings that I thought she could be useful a few minutes ago.
I ran, carrying Cher, who had run out of magic power. I should have done this from the beginning.
Our speed increased dramatically.
Cher woke up on the way and made a fuss, but I ignored her as she was completely useless. We finally reached the bottom of the cliff, where I jumped off in the early afternoon.
I grilled maeashitsukawazu meat for lunch and ate finely chopped cam fruit for dessert.
A full stomach makes you sleepy. Cher, who had regained some of her magic, used earth magic to create a space in the rocks below the cliff, creating a small cave.
“She’s useful in the strangest of places, isn’t she?”
I took a nap in the cave.
In the evening, I got up quietly and woke Cher. I wanted to keep going, but she was slowing me down too much, so I decided to level her up.
If the slime in the river kills her, there is no way she can make it to the demonic land. Cher couldn’t even catch a forest rat. She has no fighting ability at all. I kept telling her that she was going to die, and somehow, I managed to teach her when to use her magic.
Just before sunset, she defeated the emerald monkey, weakened by my attack, with fire magic. I’m annoyed that she’s so happy about it.
“Try harder.”
“Try harder?”
I knew it wasn’t worth it, so I decided to ask her to teach me magic after all. Since we didn’t understand each other’s language, we decided to practice putting our hands together to feel the flow of magic power.
As we held hands, I could feel something flowing out of Cher’s hand and something in me flowing into hers.
“It felt so strange…”
That is what magic is. I had used daily life magic, but is this what other people’s magic feels like?
When Cher received my magic power, she looked dissatisfied. If anything, she was half crying. She kicked a stone on the ground while shouting in the language of the demon tribe. The stone hit the rafflesia and was covered in stinking mucus. She was a very clumsy person.
“Aa… a…”
“Ugh… go wash in the river.”
At dinner, I asked her what she was mad about, and she said that I had a lot of magic power. It must have been the effect of defeating the monsters in the demonic land, and my level had gone up. After that, I was told that I was a fool not to use magic.
“I can at least use the daily life magic.”
Saying this, I released a spark from the tip of my finger, but she raised her hand and sighed.
Magic is an image, she said. She kept pointing at my head.
“Still, you can’t make a naked woman out of magic.”
Taking advantage of the fact that she could not understand my words, I said what I wanted to say.
I try to practice magic by myself late at night. I was able to make fire for a moment, perhaps because I understood the flow of magical power. But the flames are blue and quite small.
It takes a long time, so I don’t think I can use it in battle.

He suffers from imagination deficiency, huh? Not a wizard material from his actions so far, so no surprise here.

So what? He learned the language of demons in a matter of hours? Or did he teach the demoness his language? This novel violates the fundamental principles of logic! I’m dropping this sh1t. I value my brain cells.
