Chapter 4 – Unreasonable Demand

It all started with a phone call from Ryota.

Six months of selling potions.

After earning 30 million yen, Wataru decided to establish a base here.

If possible, he would like to set up an office near a train station in the center of the city, where it would be easy to meet people.

He didn’t need a very large office.

If he wanted to meet people in a relaxed atmosphere and deal with athletes, it would be better to have a place where he could move around a bit.

While looking for an office, he also wanted to move.

The layout of his old apartment had been designed with a little extra space, but with the addition of two new roommates, Mariel and Aire, it suddenly felt much smaller.

He needed a larger layout to accommodate their personal belongings and provide more storage space.

Even if he was going to look for a place online, he wanted to decide where he was going to look first.

Wataru went out with this goal in mind, but when he got home, he was surprised to see a notification on his smartphone.

He had some time to spare and had seven missed calls from Ryota.

“What’s wrong, Master?”

“Ryo-chan called me. It sounds like it’s urgent.”

“Nyan~! I lost again! That guy is so sneaky! He cheats! He must be cheating!”

Wataru asked Mariel, who had come to greet him upon his return, for a drink and went to his room.

The air conditioner was working, and it felt good to cool down his overheated body in the middle of summer.

Aire was engrossed in the game he was playing for the first time since she came here.

She was still engrossed in the competitive game and yelled out loud.

A number of bad scenarios ran through Wataru’s mind.

This is no ordinary matter.

Has something gone wrong?

Has Ryota’s body, which he thought had healed, been injured again?

Quickly, he checked the notifications of the chat application and found a message from Ryota.

“Sorry, I need to hear from you as soon as you get this. I’m sorry to ask this out of the blue, but there’s someone who really wants to see you, and I can’t refuse his request. I have no idea how the word got out. Are you leaving on another business trip? It doesn’t matter when you get this, but I need to hear from you.”

Ryota’s message made Wataru feel a strong sense of urgency.

Did someone important ask him to do something?

When Wataru called, the call was answered immediately.

“Oh, it’s you, Wataru. Sorry to bother you so suddenly.”

“More importantly, what’s going on?”

“You saw my message, right? It’s the same as before. I don’t know where he heard about it, but he suddenly wants to use it himself. I’m really sorry, but can you sell it to him?”

“Who is he anyway?”

“Do you know the professional golfer, Great Yamazaki? That’s who I’m talking about.”

“I know who he is, but a professional golfer?”

Wataru was confused to hear such an unexpected name.

Great Yamazaki.

He was a former professional baseball player who switched to golf and is the professional golfer with the most wins on the Japanese tour.

He has also been the prize money king many times and is often featured on television and in newspapers.

He is old enough to play on the senior tour, but he is still playing at the top level.

Even I, who had never played golf before, knew his name well.

He is a golfer who has created a faction known as the “Army”.

In the past, he has been reported to have had dealings with the Yakuza, and he is a person who never lacks for topics, for better or worse.

“A lot of professional baseball players like golf. There are a lot of players who have benefited from his lessons, and some of them even participate in joint training sessions. There are a lot of bad rumors about him, but he seems to be a very charismatic person.”

“Have you ever met him, Ryo-chan?”

“I think I’ve only greeted him once. But I’m on good terms with some of the older players who helped me with the team.”

“And that’s why you couldn’t refuse him?”

“Yes. It would have been embarrassing for me to disappoint the people who helped me.”

Wataru was silent for a while.

In the meantime, Mariel came into the room and set down a freshly brewed iced coffee.

He took a sip of the iced coffee, made with strong coffee and ice, and added syrup and cream.

He calmed his thoughts for a moment and spoke as calmly as he could.

“Even if it’s a request from you, Ryo-chan, I have to think about it for a while. Even if it’s someone important or famous, I don’t want to be forced to do something like this and then have everything fall apart. There’s a chance that the same trick will work next time.”

“That’s true, but…”

“I know you have a position to uphold. But aren’t the players you introduced me to all people who want to get better as soon as possible?”

“Ugh… I’m sorry. I’m being unreasonable, aren’t I? I’ll leave everything to you.”

“Yes, I’m glad you understand. I’ll try to meet your expectations as much as possible, but I can’t promise anything right now. I’ll see if I can secure additional supplies and get back to you as soon as I can.”

“I’m counting on you. Sorry to bother you with this.”

Wataru hung up the phone after hearing Ryota’s apology.

An involuntary sigh escaped him.

He had expected something like this to happen one day.

Influential people will hear about it from somewhere and try to get their hands on it at any cost.

There might even be people who would offer more money to be flexible.

Still, he wanted to avoid such underhanded tactics if possible.

“Welcome Trading Company was amazing, even though I was a suspicious person, they were still honest with me.”

If you say it’s blue, it’s blue, but since the means to obtain it are limited, he wants to sell it in an honest way.

And he wants the other party to be honest as well.

Wataru begins to understand what is amazing about William, who has been doing business for many years regardless of the other party’s position.

Wataru leaves his room, and even though he has just returned, he begins to prepare to leave again.

“Mariel, Aire. We’re going through the gate and to the Pharmacist’s Guild. Get ready.”

“Understood.”

“Hmm!? W-wait! One more minute! I’ll be ready in a minute.”

“Good grief, hurry up!”

“Hahaha, I did well, so I’ll let you off with a warning.”

If you leave a competitive game immediately because you have other things to do, you may be punished.

Wataru waited for Aire to finish so that it would be okay to take a break.

It’s important to follow the order of things.
