Part 2
“Hm? What was that just now?”
While Yuuya chased after Yuzuki, Luna frowned, sensing a faint presence.
“Just my imagination, I suppose? I thought I sensed signs of a battle…”
“Agreed. I felt it, too.”
“Yuti, too?”
Yuti, like Luna, seemed to have sensed the signs of battle and stared into the void.
“Affirmative. However, I don’t know where the battle is taking place. The signs vanished immediately.”
“I see. But if they vanished, then there’s no particular problem, right?”
Luna wore an expression that was hard to read.
Then, Lexia spoke up.
“What’s with that grim look?”
“…No, it’s nothing.”
“Is that so?”
Lexia accepted Luna’s words without question.
And then, Ryo spoke up.
“Come to think of it, is Yuuya okay?”
“T-true, he’s taking a while to come back.”
Quite some time had passed since Yuuya went to the bathroom, as Ryo said, and Shingo nodded worriedly.
Then, Rin spoke up.
“Well, but with this many people, the men’s restroom must be crowded, right?”
“Yeah, probably… If you need to go, you should head there sooner rather than later.”
Amidst this trivial chatter, Luna and Yuti exchanged glances.
“It couldn’t be that… Yuuya is somehow involved with that sign we felt earlier, could it?”
“Unknown. But… it’s possible.”
However, their fears were soon confirmed.

Meanwhile, around that time…
Back home, Night and the others were comfortably relaxing while keeping watch.
Then, Ouma spoke up while lying back lazily.
“New Year’s shrine visit, huh… It’s a strange custom in this world, isn’t it? For the entire country to travel to a specific place just for one event.”
“Oh? Is there no similar custom in your world, Ouma-dono?”
When Kuuya reacted to Ouma’s words, he nodded.
“I cannot say for the present era, but to my knowledge, I have never heard of such a custom. There seem to be festivals celebrating the new year, though.”
“I see…”
“Still, what exactly is the purpose of this first shrine visit?”
When Ouma asked this, unfamiliar with the custom, Kuuya answered.
“Well, there are various reasons, but the main purpose is to pray to the local deity for a peaceful and healthy year ahead.”
“To a deity?”
Ouma, who came from a world where deities felt more tangible than they did on Earth, wore an expression that was hard to describe.
“Do gods actually bother granting human wishes?”
“Oh? Is it different in your world, Ouma-dono?”
“I wouldn’t say it never happens, but most gods are selfish bastards who couldn’t care less about human concerns. If they truly cared, there wouldn’t be all this fighting in the first place.”
“Well, that’s true…”
Kuuya gave a wry smile at Ouma’s blunt words.
Then, Ouma snorted derisively.
“Besides, peace? That’s the furthest thing from Yuuya’s reach. Praying to the gods won’t bring him peace.”
“Well, that’s a bit harsh. I suppose you can’t say it’s impossible.”
Kuuya tried to counter Ouma’s words, but they wouldn’t come.
“What on earth has become of Yuuya? Even from my perspective, he seems to be leading a truly bizarre life…”
“That’s something not even the gods would know. We can only accept that getting tangled up in trouble is simply his fate.”
“In fact, he might already be in trouble today…”
“No doubt.”
“…Woof.”
“Buhi?”
Ouma chuckled, his throat rumbling at Kuuya’s words.
Night let out an indescribable cry while watching this exchange, and Akatsuki reacted to it as well.

“I’m sure he headed this way, right?”
I immediately gave chase when I noticed something was off with Yuzuki-kun.
But Yuzuki-kun, whose body had been enhanced by a strange power, disappeared in an instant, and I lost track of him.
“Damn… I should have used that body-enhancing magic too…”
Muttering to myself, I headed in the direction Yuzuki-kun had run. Before I knew it, I found myself in the woods outside the shrine.
“Is it okay to go in here…?”
A sacred atmosphere and an indescribable aura that I couldn’t help but worry about filled the woods.
As I searched for Yuzuki-kun using skills like Presence Detection, I suddenly felt an odd sense of unease.
“Huh? What is this?”
The moment I passed through a certain spot in the woods, I was overcome by a strange sensation—almost like I desperately wanted to get away from that place.
However, thanks to my demonic and spiritual powers, I knew this feeling was abnormal and was being manipulated by something or someone.
Had I not possessed demonic or spiritual power, I would not have felt uneasy about this sensation. I would have simply followed the urge to leave and walked out of the woods.
“…Could something be ahead?”
Intuitively sensing this, I stepped toward where the sensation grew stronger.
The next instant, I felt as if I were slipping beneath a thin veil.
“What on earth was that?”
As I tilted my head in confusion, the tremendous sound of battle suddenly reached my ears.
“Wh-what is that!?”
Just moments ago, I hadn’t heard such intense combat sounds. Yet, the instant I passed through that veil-like thing, the noise became audible.
“Could it be a barrier or something like that? If so…”
I immediately started running toward the source of the fighting sounds.
Then—
“Huh… What is this?!”
Yuzuki-kun was lying on the ground in obvious pain, along with two men.
Facing them were three shadows, standing as if in opposition.
But when I saw the silhouettes of those shadows, my eyes widened even further.
“Huh… Iris-san!?”
The shadows were modeled after Iris-san, Master Usagi, and Odis-san.
