Chapter 72
At the words of the receptionist, the adventurers who surrounded us raised their voices.
“H-how did you defeat a monster that contains mithril! You’re an F-rank adventurer, aren’t you?”
The astonished voices of the adventurers filled the place.
…I’ve been thinking a lot about that excuse. At first, I thought about not bringing the mithril and telling them that I could somehow escape from the monster. But I thought that would cause unnecessary worry to the guild and the rest of the people in this city. That’s why I revealed the mithril out here.
The excuse is simple.
“I don’t know why, but there just happened to be a big explosion… And it just happened to hit the rabbit kangaroo.”
“W-what?”
The adventurers looked puzzled.
“An explosion, you said?”
While thinking something, the receptionist turned her gaze at me.
…It makes me a little worried.
“I don’t know the details, but… yes. The rabbit kangaroo exploded when it kicked the ground.”
“…If that’s the case, maybe there was a magic tool buried in the ground. It’s possible that the magic tool caused the explosion.”
“…In other words, I’ve got some crazy luck?”
“Yes, it could be.”
“It’s good to be alive like this”
I let out a sigh of relief. The adventurers nodded their heads in agreement when the receptionist was talking about the possibility of an unknown magic tool.
“…He’s really lucky.”
“Surely, huh? You’re so lucky.”
“Nevertheless, if there is such a powerful magic tool, I would like to see it at least once.”
The adventurers who had gathered began to spread away.
…Before long, the surroundings became quiet. In the meantime, it seems that I faked it well. I stroked my chest secretly and turned my gaze to the receptionist.
“Is it okay for me to keep this mithril?”
“Yes, you’re free to take this. And I don’t mind if you sell it to the guild.”
Then, the receptionist handed the mithril to me. I put the mithril in my pocket.
…Mithril is a pretty valuable ore. I can use this to make high-quality armor and accessories. In my case, I’d like to build a mithril-related weapon. I’ll have to destroy this mithril magic ore later.
I looked at Warrior-san and the others, who were still looking somehow surprised, before smiling.
“…There were many things, but for now, shall we report the request achievement?”
“Y-y-you’re right…!”
Warrior-san raised his voice to represent everyone.

As we finished our report on request achievement. I took out my guild card and handed it to the receptionist. The receptionist confirmed my name and then put the guild card in front of the fairy. The fairy looked at my guild card intently and then ran her finger over the part of the rank inscribed next to my name.
I guess it’s fairy magic or something. The letter engraved there was changed to rank-E. As the fairy finished her work, the receptionist proudly stroked her head with her index finger.
The fairy happily hopped around the receptionist’s fingers, the receptionist loosened her cheeks and handed over the guild card collected from the fairy to me.
“Here, please check it out first.”
After receiving it, I confirm it again. It was clearly labeled as an E-rank. For the time being, I can now call myself an adventurer.
It’s too embarrassing to call yourself an adventurer when you’ve just registered as a rank-F. However, even though rank-E is a bit of an amateur in terms of adventurers, it’s still a person who can complete the promotional test.
I was worried about what would happen when the Mithril Rabbit kangaroo attacked us, but I’m glad I managed to take it down. This was also probably because of the large number of skills I had. I’ll have to keep digging into the skills in the future.
If I keep up the good work, I may be able to move up to D-rank shortly. I’d like to continue my adventuring activities at my own pace in the future.
The other guild cards have also been updated. Warrior-san happily holds his guild card, and Thief-san makes a wry-smile looking at him, and then relaxes his mouth, also happy with it. Rashin-san and Chiyu-san also smiled at each other.
“Thank you guys for your hard work. I hope you all have a good rest today.”
It’s unlikely that an adventurer who has completed a promotion request will receive another request that day. I was pretty tired myself. In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to tell my parents.
Ristina-san was worried about me, and I should at least tell her that I’m okay. The mithril thing is, of course, a secret. Otherwise, there will be a lot of questions.
“Hey, guys! Would you like to have dinner with me now? It’s a celebration of our promotion!”
“I’m okay with that.”
“Yes, of course! And I also have to thank my benefactor for saving my life.”
Rashin-san said with a smile. Chiyu-san also looked at me with a blushing face.
“Yes, I’d like to join in, too. How about Relius-san?”
“Of course, I’m going to participate. Warrior-san, do you know of a good store?”
“Ooh! Leave it to me! There’s a place where I know the guy who owns it. Let’s go!”
We started walking with Warrior-san in the lead. As we left the guild and walked down the street, Thief-san looked at me.
“But Relius is really amazing. At that time… You were able to keep up with the rabbit kangaroo’s movements.”
“Eh!? Seriously!?”
Warrior-san raised his voice in surprise. Beside him, Chiyu-san smiled happily.
“Yes… At that time, we were all alive because the rabbit kangaroo was being restrained.”
“…I heard about that afterward, but I’m really surprised. I couldn’t keep up with its movements at all, could I?”
Rashin-san looked at me. I was able to react, thanks to the ability enhancement.
“…Seriously, is a blacksmith actually an excellent occupation?”
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s just for now, I can’t say anything.”
“Still, it’s amazing how you can keep up with the rabbit kangaroo. I was surely out of it, but I probably wouldn’t have been able to take it even if I tried my best.”
Out of it, huh?
Well, it’s true that if you were able to win the previous battle with that much leeway, it can’t be helped that it would happen. I think I’ve been a little out of it myself. As a result, I was able to fight because Warrior-san was knocked down with a single blow.
“Come to think of it, I heard you gave me a potion at that time, didn’t you? I used two, and Warrior also used two. I think that’s what made us feel better.”
“Oh, that’s right! Relius, thanks for the potions!”
“So, how much did it cost? At least I’ll pay for it, won’t I?”
Rashin-san said teasingly, and Warrior-san took what looked like a purse from the chest of his jacket.
“How much, Relius?”
I don’t think the price is particularly high. There are no restrictions on what I can keep in my item box. That’s why I’m just creating various things with the magic I have leftover before I go to bed.
“It’s fine. I had originally planned to use it if there was a need.”
“But it was expensive, wasn’t it?”
“That’s right! We’ve only been helped so much, so at least, let us do this much as thanks!”
…I’m in trouble. The price is also not very clear, to begin with. I thought for a moment, then clapped my hands.
“Then, will you buy me a meal for this time?”
“…Eh, is that all right?”
“Yes. Even I, thanks to Warrior-san and Rashin-san’s initial fight, had time to observe the movement of the rabbit kangaroo. Thanks to you, I was able to buy some time. It’s a credit to both of you, too.”
The two of them looked at each other and nodded.
“Well, eat a lot then, okay? I’ll pay for whatever you want!
“Yes, eat as much as you want!”
For me, just getting the mithril was the best commission I could get. I wasn’t going to ask for more than that.
