Chapter 72

 

At the words of the receptionist, the adventurers who surrounded us raised their voices.

“H-how did you defeat a monster that contains mithril! You’re an F-rank adventurer, aren’t you?”

The astonished voices of the adventurers filled the place.

…I’ve been thinking a lot about that excuse. At first, I thought about not bringing the mithril and telling them that I could somehow escape from the monster. But I thought that would cause unnecessary worry to the guild and the rest of the people in this city. That’s why I revealed the mithril out here.

The excuse is simple.

“I don’t know why, but there just happened to be a big explosion… And it just happened to hit the rabbit kangaroo.”

“W-what?”

The adventurers looked puzzled.

“An explosion, you said?”

While thinking something, the receptionist turned her gaze at me.

“I don’t know the details, but… yes. The rabbit kangaroo exploded when it kicked the ground.”

“…If that’s the case, maybe there was a magic tool buried in the ground. It’s possible that the magic tool caused the explosion.”

I let out a sigh of relief. The adventurers nodded their heads in agreement when the receptionist was talking about the possibility of an unknown magic tool.

“Nevertheless, if there is such a powerful magic tool, I would like to see it at least once.”

The adventurers who had gathered began to spread away.

…Before long, the surroundings became quiet. In the meantime, it seems that I faked it well. I stroked my chest secretly and turned my gaze to the receptionist.

“Is it okay for me to keep this mithril?”

“Yes, you’re free to take this. And I don’t mind if you sell it to the guild.”

Then, the receptionist handed the mithril to me. I put the mithril in my pocket.

I looked at Warrior-san and the others, who were still looking somehow surprised, before smiling.

As we finished our report on request achievement. I took out my guild card and handed it to the receptionist. The receptionist confirmed my name and then put the guild card in front of the fairy. The fairy looked at my guild card intently and then ran her finger over the part of the rank inscribed next to my name.

I guess it’s fairy magic or something. The letter engraved there was changed to rank-E. As the fairy finished her work, the receptionist proudly stroked her head with her index finger.

The fairy happily hopped around the receptionist’s fingers, the receptionist loosened her cheeks and handed over the guild card collected from the fairy to me.

“Here, please check it out first.”

After receiving it, I confirm it again. It was clearly labeled as an E-rank. For the time being, I can now call myself an adventurer.

It’s too embarrassing to call yourself an adventurer when you’ve just registered as a rank-F. However, even though rank-E is a bit of an amateur in terms of adventurers, it’s still a person who can complete the promotional test.

I was worried about what would happen when the Mithril Rabbit kangaroo attacked us, but I’m glad I managed to take it down. This was also probably because of the large number of skills I had. I’ll have to keep digging into the skills in the future.

Rashin-san said teasingly, and Warrior-san took what looked like a purse from the chest of his jacket.
